After a few rocky years in the world of real estate, we are thrilled to continue to read reports of the rise of the second home market. More so, we are thrilled to see this trend coming to fruition right here in our community. Whitetail Club saw steady growth in 2011 as five private homes and two turnkey properties were under construction at the close of the year. Sales were up 50 percent from the previous year and 2012 is projected to see continuing growth. Prospective buyers seem to truly understand that when it comes to a second home, now truly may be the time to buy.
In a recent article from the Las Vegas Review Journal, the?National Association of Realtors reported in a 2011 survey that 19 percent of recent homebuyers own more than one home, up 5 percent from the previous year. Additionally, vacation properties made up 27 percent of all home sales last year. Furthermore, 34 percent of those vacation home buyers indicated that they intend to eventually use the property as a primary residence.
As the baby boomer generation nears their plans for retirement, many are taking advantage of the reasonable pricing across the market and securing second home investments for their own future and for that of their families. Second home properties can be utilized not only as a vacation property for current buyers, but as one that can be passed down generationally, a common theme here at Whitetail.
?We are seeing an influx of buyers purchase property at a wide variety of price points with plans to pass their vacation property along to their children and even grandchildren,? explained Bill DeLong, sales associate for Whitetail Club real estate. ?Being that Whitetail offers family membership plans, folks are smartly using this time and these real estate opportunities as a true investment in their future.?
