Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue has opened its newest division, the Maryland Hay Bank.
The hay bank will provide a 30-day supply of horse-quality hay to owners in financial crises. Gentle Giants will offer the hay at no cost to the applicant and will keep all information confidential. Horse owners may use this program once annually, and there is no limit to the number of horses, ponies, donkeys and/or mules that an owner can have.
Financial need is determined during the application process.
The hay is an orchard grass/timothy mix and is inspected for quality. Recipients must travel to Mount Airy, Maryland, to pick up the hay.
